'Jai Hind' par Mehbooba Ko Aapti kyu

Mehbooba Mufti PDP Chief and
Ex-Chief minister of J&K is famous not for her administrative skills and the manner of running the affairs of the state. But she is infamous for her controversial statements in which she is adept and which she gives so often to gain the sympathy of the Kashmiri masses and more so of the separatist and militant organizations. Her parochial, secretarian and anti-national statements do not surprise political pundits and the patriotic people of the country and J&K state who all know that she is resorting to controversial remarks for winning back her fading image of her party and is also doing so for gaining the support of her core constituency where her mass base and support has dented due to her alliance with BJP to form the government. The opposition parties of J&K and India as well have likened her PDP's alliance with BJP as the unholy alliance. PDP founder President Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has called it historic alliance of North Pole and South Pole. In fact, it was an opportunistic alliance for sharing the loaves of power and it was bound to crash as it was the alliance of ideologically opposite political parties and the only meeting ground for the two parties was sharing of power by hook or by crook and the unholy alliance arrangement failed mid way and forced the central government to impose governor's rule and then impose President's rule under article 356 of the Indian constitution. This time Mehbooba is in news for her controversial and uncalled for remarks about reciting of 'Jai Hind' by Air India crew after every announcement. It is good that Air India asks its crew to say 'Jai Hind' after every flight announcement. The airline's decision comes at a time India and Pakistan are seeing military tension. State owned Air India will display its nationalistic credentials for all of its passengers after its crew was instructed on Monday to say Jai hind "with much fervor" following every announcement. It means Jai Hind chant to continue after every flight. Students, teachers hail Jai Hind, jai Bharat decision. In fact, Air India makes the slogan mandatory for all its crew members after every announcement. The patriotic slogan of Jai Hind in Air India is a step in right direction. It means you will be greeted with word Jai Hind by the crew members. This decision of Air India has irked Ex-CM Mehbooba Mufti and as usual she is stoking unnecessary controversy. But one understands the compulsion of the PDP president of criticizing the decision to say Jai Hind after every announcement by the crew of Air India. Any way Mehbooba has soft corner for militants, terrorists and stone pelters. It is alleged that she weeps over the death of militants and calls it as a loss of the state assets when the fact is that militants are no assets but are a burden on the society and government. They cannot be called assets but are pure and total liabilities on the state and they should be dealt with iron hand and no leniency should be shown with militants, their over ground supporters and the stone pelters who obstruct the security forces in the performance of their duties in most difficult and trying circumstances. However, Mehbooba Mufti visits the families of the terrorists killed in the cross firing by the security forces and in this way she discourages our valiant and brave security forces. She is adept in giving controversial statements time and again. This time round she has given controversial remarks about Jai Hind decision of the Air India. Earlier, she has said that the minorities in Jammu particularly Gujjars and Bakkarwals in Jammu and elsewhere are discriminated and are feeling insecure in Jammu while the fact is that the muslims of Jammu are as secure as the people belonging to other communities. Mehbooba has also said that Kashmiri students studying outside the state are feeling insecure and are harassed and subjected to inhuman treatment while the fact is that some Kashmiri students are raising provocative anti-national slogans and as such become victims in the hands of patriotic people. Yes it is the duty of majority community and the state governments and universities and college authorities to safeguard the life and limb of the Kashmiri students. But Kashmiri students studying outside should also remain in discipline and not raise anti-India slogans and glorify militancy and Pakistan. The people of India will not accept such a behavior of these students who are our brothers. PM Modi has done well and right to have asked the Indian masses to safeguard the life, limb and honor of Kashmiri students whom he called his 'Lals' and rightly so. Mehbooba Mufti has become the champion, protector and advocate of the rights of the Indian Muslims and is habitual of giving objectionable statements to malign the majority community. One wonders who have given Mehbooba the inborn right to cast aspersions on the treatment and security of Indian Muslims when the fact is that Indian Muslims by and large are patriotic and they are as safe as the people of other faiths. Mehbooba is stoking emotions and passions for the sake of gaining sympathy of her core constituency back home and these remarks seem to be her political compulsion as the party is bankrupt and has no developmental agenda to pursue. So does she rake emotive and non issues to divert the attention of the people from the mundane and pressing problems of bread and butter. This time she is uneasy over the decision of Air India to recite Jai Hind in the air after every announcement. To say Jai Hind is our national pride and no one should have any objection or reservation with the reciting of Jai Hind and more so a person who has occupied the post of a Chief Minister and is president of so called mainstream party-PDP. One fails to understand is Mehbooba genuinely irked over the decision of the Air India to recite Jai Hind after every announcement or is she only doing so for her political expediency? Jai Hind is our national ethos and slogan and is not against any community or faith and it is a national and patriotic slogan and Indian security forces, NGO's, people's organizations, political leaders and parties as well as general masses recite Jai Hind and it is not objectionable in any way. Why Jai Hind in air is annoying Mehbooba Mufti is a million dollar question and its answer lies in this that everything patriotic and national is eye sore for Mehbooba Mufti. JKNPP Chief Harshdev Singh has rightly criticized the unbecoming attitude and the controversial remark of Mehbooba Mufit over Jai Hind. He has said that it is unbecoming of a person who has held the chair of Chief Minister and who had taken the oath of allegiance to the constitution of India. Mehbooba Mufti is annoyed over the recent decision of Air India to say Jai Hind after every announcement of the flight. One should be proud to be an Indian and should not stoke emotional and sectarian issues only for the political expediency. All of us including politicians should regard and revere national ethos and Jai Hind slogan should be held in great esteem but it is unfortunate that Mehbooba is irked on Jai Hind in air and this is understandable but has no takers in the country. She should desist from issuing denigratory and controversial statements which have far reaching ramifications for the peace and tranquility in the country. She should also abstain from issuing controversial remarks for political expediency and vote bank politics. Instead she should concentrate on the organizational affairs of her party which is facing factionalism, open revolt and groupism and save the sinking ship of her party-PDP.
