'Handover internal security to paramilitary to keep terrorists away from Jammu' | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 8: Terrorists targeting Jammu bus stand with a grenade once again has exposed the tall claims of the police that tight vigil is being maintained in the winter capital of the state. A Hizbul terrorist lobbing a grenade at the busy bus stand in heart of the city has once again rattled the law enforcing agencies in Jammu city. Few hours after the attack, which left two persons dead and more than 30 injured, police claimed that it arrested the accused who had hurled the grenade. The accused during questioning, according to the police, revealed that he was tasked by the self-styled Hizbul commander Farooq Bhat to hurl the grenade at the bus stand. An analyst while talking to Early Times said that police and other security agencies need to ponder upon the fact that accused traveled from south Kashmir's Kulgam area to Jammu along with the grenade and even succeeded in lobbing it. "Till then police did not wake up. It woke up after the blast took place," he added. An observer said that everyone has been screaming that terrorists and their bosses are making every possible attempt to carry out a strike in Jammu but no one paid any heed towards the alarm which was raised by the people. "Thursday's blast was not the first attack at Jammu bus stand. In fact it was third attack within the span of 9-months in this particular area," the observer added. Another analyst said that Jammu and Kashmir Police have been tasked with the internal security of the Jammu city. "Terrorists infiltrating into Jammu city for third time within a few months has put a question mark on the security agencies entrusted with the job to keep the city secure. People at the helm should revisit the security arrangements and if the need arises the security of the Jammu city should be handed over to the paramilitary forces," the analyst said. He said, "In the past whenever any blast has taken place in Jammu the police higher ups have tried to down play the incident. In fact no action was taken against the officials who were keeping the vigil. This time around the situation has taken an ugly turn as two people have died and more than thirty others have been injured." An expert said, "Thursday's blast at busy Jammu bus stand should serve as an eye opener for the people at the helm. They need to wake up before Pakistan sponsored terrorists carry out another strike." |
