Jammu, Mar 8: In commemoration with International Women Day, Nami Dogri Sanstha Jammu organised a special function at Katra to felicitate daughter of the soil Dr. Samia Mohan and conferred upon her the International Women's Award 2019. Dr. Samia Mohan even in her school days represented as "Head Girl"of the Sacred Heart School Dalhousie and then Miss DPS Jammu. She did her MBBS from Jammu University with Gold Medal in Surgery and then Post Graduation in Surgery (MS) from GMC Jammu. Shiv Kumar Sharma, President, J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association and an eminent social worker, former Joint Secretary, J&K State Sports Council and former President, Hotel and Restaurants Association Katra presided over the function. Other prominent persons who were present on the occasion include Capt. Lalit Sharma IFS Convener NDS, Sardar Achhar Singh, Dr. Chanchal Sharma, M. S. Kamra, Brahama Nand Ji, Sudesh Manhas, Dogra Harish Kaila, President, NDS and Yash Pal Yash, General Secretary of NDS. Shiv Kumar Sharma in his address said that Dr. Samia Mohan is meritorious, promising and upcoming Surgeon basically belonging to Katra. He admired her dedication, commitment, professionalism and her passion to serve the suffering mankind. Capt. Lalit Sharma said that "think equal, build smart, innovation for change" is the theme for International Women Day - 2019 and Dr. Samia Mohan's endeavours are perfectly in consonance with this theme and she is a role model for the female child to strengthen their resolve to achieve excellence in various fields. |
