SAD holds meeting, discusses forthcoming election | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 15: A meeting of Shrimoni Akali Dal (SAD) was held today in pursuance to the decisions taken in the previous meeting held on 4th March under the chairmanship of Jethadar Mohinder Singh Party President. Forthcoming elections in the state were discussed in the meeting. Speakers expressed great concerned about the way Sikhs are being ignored socially, politically and economically both by the state and at the centre level. Although the major political parties made tall promises at the time of elections to accommodate Sikhs Community in the State legislature and state cabinet but all the promises were futile. Speaker added that the practice of nominating Sikh community in the state legislature and state cabinet started by Maharaja of J&K State before partition has been discontinued by the present dispensation. Every political party take community for granted and does not care for Sikh masses and rather make all effort to divide our vote bank and take advantage of the same. Sikh Community is totally denied in employment and other benefits granted under the constitution to the minorities. All the Speakers stressed that community should come forward and actively participate in the forthcoming elections at the State level. Further, we should try to consolidate the community to have a strong Vote bank in favour of our candidate's not in parliamentary elections but in ensuing assembly elections too. An appeal was made to the community to forge the unity so that common candidates could be filed for the ensuing elections for their victory. The president thanked all the participants and assured that the decision taken in the meeting will be acted upon and all the respectable members of the community will be called for a successful outcome of the elections. |
