Jammu, Mar 15: An event under the aegis of Chemical Society of PG Department of Chemistry, University of Jammu was organized as a part of celebrations of Golden Jubilee Year of the University (2019) and also 150th year of discovery of the Periodic Table. The eminent personalities Prof. S. Chand-ersekaran (Indian National science Academy, Distinguished Professor) of Indian Institute of Sciences, Bengaluru and Prof. Brindaban C. Ranu (Indian Association of Cultivation of Science) Jadavpur, Kolkata were invited to deliver the talk. Prof. S. Chandersekaran delivered a talk on "Organic Synthesis". He also emphasized that how an era of organic synthesis began and how it was progressively developed with the contributions made by Nobel laureates. Moreover, he concluded with the focus upon atom economy, step economy and green procedures in organic synthesis. Prof. B. C. Ranu emphasized upon Green Chemistry and made an open interaction with M. Sc students and research scholars by citing some examples of Green Chemistry. The whole event was concluded by Prof. R. K. Bamezai, Head of the department of Chemistry, University of Jammu. Prof. S. K. Pandey, Prof. Kamal K. Kapoor, Prof. H. N. Sheikh, Prof. Satya Paul, Prof. D. S. Sambyal, Dr. Gauri D. Bajju, Dr. Monika Gupta and Dr. Ashwani Kumar were present on the occasion. |
