| 2 drug peddlers held with 73 kg poppy straw | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 25; Acting firmly against the drug menace and its propagators on the directions of Dr Koshal Sharma-SSP Samba, District Police Samba today arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 73 Kg poppy straw from their possession in two separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Vijaypur police station.
Police spokesman said that a police party of Police Station Vijaypur headed by Inspector Rakesh Bamba-SHO Vijaypur under the supervision of DySP Baljeet Singh-SDPO Vijaypur raised a surprise checkpoint near Raya Morh, Vijaypur and intercepted one truck bearing Registration number JK02T-2581 coming from Jammu side.
"During checking of the vehicle, 52 Kg poppy straw was recovered which was concealed in a Plastic Tripal (Canvas) cover laid over the body of the truck. The accused owner cum driver of the vehicle identified as Prithpal Singh of Gagore Vijaypur District Samba was arrested on the spot along with contraband items.
In this regard a case under FIR No. 41/2019 under section 8/15/60 NDPS Act has been registered at Vijaypur police station and investigation taken up.
In a similar incident, a truck bearing Registration number JK02AG-9781 coming from Jammu side was intercepted at surprise Naka was raised at Raya Morh, Vijaypur and 21 Kg poppy straw was recovered inside the cabin of the truck. The accused driver namely Nirmal Jeet Singh of Abtal Ramgarh District Samba has been arrested and contraband item was also seized.
A case under FIR No. 42/2019 under section 8/15 NDPS Act registered at Vijaypur police station and investigation taken up. |
