Hindi Sahitya Mandal organizes Poetry Recitation Competition at GCW

JAMMU, Mar 29: Hindi Sahitya Mandal, Jammu in its Diamond Jubilee Celebrations organized an Inter- College Poetry Recitation Competition at Govt. College for Women, Parade, Jammu.
Prof. Hemla Aggarwal, Principal, GCW was the chief guest on this occasion. Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Jammu presided over the programme. Students along with their teachers from 12 colleges participated in the competition.
Speaking on this occasion Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn appreciated the efforts of Hindi Sahitya Mandal, Jammu for organizing such literary meets to promote National language among the youth. He also emphasized on the need of connecting the youth with the roots of the regional culture and our heritage.
Earlier, in her welcome address Prof. Chanchal Dogra, President, Hindi Sahitya Mandal, Jammu welcomed the guests and gave a brief of the event and the activities of the HSM.
The students recited their choicest poems written by them or otherwise, based on different issues of daily life and contemporary world.
A panel of three adjudicators comprising of Dr. Adarsh, Dr. Baljit Singh Raina and Madhvi Sharma selected the position holders and the over- all position for Trophy winner. The results were: Running Trophy to Govt. B. Ed. College, Canal Road, Jammu, First Prize- Himanshika Sharma, Degree College, Hirangar; Second Prize- Sapna Sharma and Third Prize- Varsha Rathore, , Govt. B. Ed. College, Jammu. First consolation prize was declared in favour of- Kajal Sharma- Degree College, Samba, Second Consolation- Harshita Goswami, Degree College, Udhampur.
Procieeding of the programme were conducted by Subhash Sharma, General Secretary, HSM and Vaishali Bakaya, Student of GCW, Parade, Jammu. Vote of Thanks was extended by Sh. Shaminder Sharma.
Prominrnt among others who were present on this occasion were Prof. Gopal Sharma, Kamajit, Sunil Kumar, Maharaj Krishan Bharat, Raj Jamwal and Anupama (all Asstt. Professors), Bawan Singh,, R K Abrol, Shyam Juneja, Jang S. Verman, Hardeep Singh Deep, Suman Pal and Vijaya Thakur.
