Sarpanchs continue protest against DC
Seek his transfer, threaten election boycott

Kishtwar, Mar 29: The Sarpanchs from various areas of Kishtwar district today continued their protest on second consecutive day against DC Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana for his alleged misbehavior, heckling and manhandling of a Sarpanch Babu Lal Bhandari after he approach his office in connection with a grievance Thursday afternoon.
As per the details available with "Early Times", the angry Sarpanches today hardened their and blocked the main entry gate of DC office complex from morning to evening as a result of which several government officials including Election Observer got holed up inside the new DC office complex and wasn't able to move for around six hours.
The locals who visited DC office complex also joined the protesting Sarpanches and said that the demand of transfer of DC Kishtwar is genuine.
Majority of the employees including some top rank officials also called for immediate transfer of the DC.
The angry Sarpanches threatened agitation against DC Kishtwar and reaffirmed their stand for the election boycott in case Election Commission of India and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir did not transfer him.
During day long protest, some lower rank Police officers tried to pacify the angry Sarpanches, but all in vain.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kishtwar also reached out to the agitating Sarpanches and Panches with the request to lift the siege but the angry Sarpanches turned down the request and refused to meet the DC Kishtwar who is said to be ready to tender unconditional apology.
The angry Sarpanches after day long protest lifted the siege at around 5 PM and decided that the protest against DC Kishtwar will continue tomorrow as well.
Later the Sarpanches also called upon Election Observer and put forth their grievances.
They made clear that they will go ahead with poll boycott if the DC is not removed.
The victim Sarpanch has also field a written complaint with Kishtwar police against DC Kishtwar and his PSOs, but no FIR has been registered so far. The agitating Sarpanches also demanded for releasing of CCTV footage of DC office Kishtwar to ascertain the facts.
