Terrorists planning to disrupt poll process in J&K, target political leaders, workers | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Mar 29: With elections just a few weeks away, terrorist organisations in Jammu and Kashmir see it as an opportunity. Intelligence reports, over the last few days, speak of terrorist leaders preparing to attack ground-level political leaders and workers during the campaigning. Lashkar-e-Taiba leader Mohammed Saleem Parrey has directed two of his local leaders to create trouble in Bandipora, the two subordinates being Nisar Ahmed Dar, a local terrorist and Abu Argam, a foreign terrorist. In Sopore, the Al Badr, a smaller outfit, has been active and Jawed Ahmed Mattoo has been given the responsibility of attacking poll workers. There are reports of similar efforts by three terrorists, last located in the Eidgah area of Srinagar. They have been told to target overground workers and disrupt normal political activities. Besides, the targeting of Army border posts continues. There are reports of groups of terrorists (usually five or six) supported by Pakistan Army regulars in areas like Bimbargalli, Naushera, Rajouri and Uri. |
