Drug peddler held with 105 Kg poppy straw | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 29: In its continued drive against drug smugglers, Ramban police today claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered 105 kg poppy straw (bhukki) from his possession. Police spokesman said that acting on specific information received from reliable source, a special Naka was raised by Ramban Police today on at Naka point near Police Station Ramsoo. "On checking and frisking one truck bearing registration number JK02BK-5845 which was coming from Srinagar to Jammu checked and recovered 105 kg poppy straw packed in 05 plastic bags,' said police spokesman. Spokesman further said that during further inquiry the driver disclosed his name as Yog Raj Batwal of Tanda RS Pura Jammu. On this recovery of poppy straw, a case under FIR No. 24/2019 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered against the accused person at Police Station Ramsoo. Further investigation is taken up to ascertain the source and other person involved in the menace. However, during preliminary investigation the said accused person disclosed that he has brought the consignment from Srinagar area and was meant for selling to Youth of Jammu and Punjab. |
