Accused of murdering parents, son acquitted for want of evidence | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 1: Principal Sessions Judge Kathua Sanjeev Gupta acquitted Mandeep Sharma alias Mani Baba S/O Late Inderjeet Sharma R/O Bridge No.5, Deep Colony, Sujanpur, Tehsil and District Pathankot, Punjab who was facing trial in murder of his father and step mother, for want of credible evidence. Principal Sessions Judge Kathua while acquitting the accused expressed his deep pain and anguish that the dastardly act of violence remained unpunished for want of credible and admissible evidence. "There are gaping holes in the prosecution evidence and an act of snuffing away lives of the deceased persons in a most inhumane manner remained unsolved" the court observed dismissing the prosecution case and acquitting the accused. According to the police case the accused was upset over his father transferring his property in the name of his second wife. It is alleged that when deceased Inderjeet was in the process of preparing papers for the ownership, in the name of his wife, deceased Bholi Devi, of his Madhopur house, who also owns a three storey house situated at Sujanpur, the accused, on coming to know about this fact, got disturbed, because deceased Inderjeet had earlier assured the accused about giving him some property, but did not give the same to him. It is further alleged that on 20.10.2015, deceased Inderjeet had gone to Sujanpur, where accused met him and there was an exchange of hot words over the manner of disposal of property between both of them, during the course of which, accused pleaded before the deceased that if not for him, he should think of his grandchildren, but it had no effect on the deceased. It is further alleged that thereafter it came to the mind of the accused that he has been ruined otherwise also after being deprived of his share in the property belonging to his father, therefore, he had made a plan to do away with the life of his father and his step mother. |
