Kathua administration wakes up after alarming bell for illegal mining at Ravi river

Kathua, Apr 15: Kathua district administration today woke up and took strict action against illegal unabated mining after alarming bell rang by Early times in its previous edition.
Pertinently, despite of having strict instruction of Supreme Court and district administration, a large number of sands, bolsters and other useable concrete materials were being extracted under the nose of district administration and officials of Ravi Tawi canals.
Vikas Kundal IAS, DDC Kathua took the matter seriously and passed on possible instructions to DMO Kathua to take strict action against mining mafia.
Most of the concrete materials under the railways bridge on Ravi river and other bridges have been extracted that could be harmful for the existence of the bridges that would cause a major incident.
ET team ràised issue through its edition and awoke the district administration with the aim to protect river Bed, following SC instructions, keep ecology system balanced and to save the lives of railways passengers.
Many JCBs and tippers could be seen easily while hurting river Bed and weakening the pillars of bridges but nobody from administration came forward to control the mining mafia .Their incompetent attitude raised eyes of nature lovers and social workers.
While realising intensity of the incident due to weaken pillers of railways bridges, JCB and Tipper were seized today as both were found engaged in illegal mining activities particularly near Railway bridge Lakhanpur . D MO Kathua along with Tehsildar Kathua and SHO Lakhanpur were present for seizures.Dr Rajinder Singh Bandral, DMO Kathua assured to continue its drive against illegal mining.
Meanwhile,One Tipper and one JCB were also seized at Bhoond particularly from the Shukha Nallah for illegal mining activities in Teshil Basholi. Registration number of these vehicles which were seized at Shukha Nallah are JCB No: JK 08E-0771 and Tipper no PB 35 N-9234.
