MPEJ appeal voters to reject undemocratic forces | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 19: Movement for Peace, Equality and Justice (MPEJ) has appealed the voters to reject the undemocratic forces, which had throttled the democratic institutions by one way or the other. According to press release, Kuldeep Kumar Rao reminded the NC and Congress of the unprecedented poll riggings in 1987 when NC joined hands with the Congress, where in about two dozen leaders of Muslim United Front (MUF) actually got elected but were arbitrarily declared defeated in J&K. "This was the open murder of democracy & its democratic values at the hands of none but central Government in connivance with State Govt. This resulted in wide spread resentment against the Government like wild fire & this prompted the MUF leaders to vow", he said. He strongly hailed the former Governor N.N. Vohra for turning tables on erstwhile BJP-PDP by rescinding the amendment of direct election to the office of Sarpanch, under Panchayati Raj Act, and has urged upon incumbent Governor to amend the latest amended state Panchayati Raj Act, in such a manner that any person or woman may file his/her nomination whose name is entered in any Panchayat Halqa in that block. "The need of the hour is to expose all these tested political parties & unitedly irrespective of caste, creed, colour or religion or region should vote against all these corrupt, commission based & caste based & tested Political parties", he said. |
