Jammu, Apr 19: On the occasion of World Heritage day celebrations, a panel discussion and workshop on 'Rural Landscapes: A Paradigm for Heritage' organised by Sanrakshan Heritage Consultants Pvt. Ltd. and VIRASAT in collaboration with International Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICICH) on 19th April, 2019 at Convention Hall, Forest Information Centre, Jammu. The focus of the workshop was to look into the concept of Rural landscapes with respect to State of Jammu and Kashmir. The effort was made to bring together scholars, administrative officers, Social media people and representatives of village communities to initiate a dialogue on rural landscapes as heritage paradigm. The participants looked into the concept and identified potential areas in the state and work out a document which would help in policy formation with respect to identification, documentation, safeguarding, promotion and awareness raising, and sustainable management of the rural landscapes in the State. The workshop was inaugurated by Sham Lal (Additional Director, Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission) in the presence of Nagendra Singh Jamwal (CEO, Surinsar Mansar Development Authority), Munish Pandit (Vice President, ICICH), Ashutosh Sharma (Director & CEO, ICDRC Dharamshala) and Dr. Mrinalini Atrey (Chairperson, VIRASAT). Main Panellist for the occasion were S M Sahni (Convenor, INTACH Jammu Chapter), Dr. C M Seth (Member, Jammu and Kashmir Heritage Committee), Javed Rahi (Expert on Gujjar Heritage). |
