Darbar dates clash with convoy calendar | | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 22: Confusion is prevailing over the smooth shifting of Darbar to summer capital Srinagar this season, with the dates finalized for the movement of Darbar clashing with the days reserved exclusively for security forces' movement along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway. As per order issued on April 3, and later modified by the Home Department, Sunday has been exclusively reserved for the security forces' movement on the national highway, while the dates mentioned in the order issued by General Administration Department (GAD) on April 10 for Darbar move, clash with these dates. The GAD's order on Darbar move says the offices observing five-day week shall close at Jammu on Friday, April 26 after office hours. The JKSRTC has been asked to make available sufficient number of buses in good condition for transportation of Srinagar-based employees on April 2 and 28. April 28 happens to be Sunday. Similarly, the Jammu-based employees will be transported on May 4 and 5. May 5 is again a Sunday, which is reserved for security forces movement as per the directions of Home Ministry. "It is still unknown, whether the security forces will allow Darbar move employees and their buses to ply on the highway on Sundays, when there are exclusive orders for security forces movement on Sundays", a move employee told Early Times. "Total confusion is prevailing among the Civil Secretariat employees due to the contradictory orders of the Home as well as GAD. It reflects the failure of administration to take into account the employees' representatives for Darbar move preparations", another employee said. However, Secretary to Government GAD, Farooq Ahmed Lone said that it was already decided that the Darbar move employees would proceed simultaneously with the security forces movement on Sundays. But according to the orders as well as minutes of meeting convened to review the arrangements for Darbar move, there is no mention of any simultaneous movement of security forces as well as Darbar move employees. |
