4/23/2019 7:33:31 PM

JAMMU, April 23: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Raman Suri today said that decision of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) to start free langar (community meals) for pilgrims is a welcome step. The decision not only will strengthen faith in humanity in serving and helping each other but also go a long way in promoting equality and giving relief to several pilgrims.

Raman Suri said that several thousand pilgrims come for seeking blessings and paying their obeisance at the cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi and such a facility will add to their conveniences. The way Board had created accommodations at all places, laid down new tracks, arranged for water and other facilities such a facility of free langar was also need of the hour.

This decision will save time of many people, provide facility to them while starting their journey or while descending from the cave shrine. Raman Suri said that the kind of meal selected by the officials to be served to pilgrims is also keeping in view the weather conditions and trekking.

The BJP leader however urged SMVDSB officials to ensure cleanliness and hygiene while cooking and serving langar. There should also be a provision for pilgrims to join the staff in kitchen for rendering their help in cooking and in the main hall for serving the meals. This way people will also be involved in the service and will be able to seek blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi.

Raman Suri said that this was a much needed services that the board has finally decided to start. He also urged board CEO to kindly direct officials to trek to the Bhawan and check hygiene in other Cafes and canteens that serve meals on payment basis so that hygiene is maintained and we'll ventilated and comfortable seating arrangements are e aired for pilgrims. Many canteens he added are not maintaining standards that's needed to serve pilgrims.
