Early Times Report
Doda, Apr 27: Patwar Halqa Jangalwar of Sub division Thathri in Doda district is currently covering the area of two Tehsils, Phagsoo and Thathri.
The heavy workload of two tehsils has not only taxed the nerves of the patwari but frustated the people as well.
The area covered under this Patwar Halqa includes Barshala, Bahrot, sisool, Bhalwana, Thathri, Tipri, Badanoo, Bandekhra, Lopa, Sloga, Mahari, Ghunti, Zenheri and the whole Tehsil Phagsoo which is spread over two Tehsils.
The area is mountainous and covers a vast area on both sides of the Chenab river. Earlier this Patwar Halqa used to be under Tehsil Thathri.
When Jammu and Kashmir government created 659 new administrative units on 23rd July 2014 Tehsil Thathri got divided into four Tehsils including Phagsoo.
While separating Tehsil Phagsoo from Thathri the concerned authorities did not bifurcate the Patwar Halqa Jangalwar despite knowing the fact that it covers two Tehsils hence would create many problems for the people in future.
The population of this Halqa has increased many folds since it's creation. Unfortunately the politicians and social workers of this area also remained silent and did not take this important matter with the higher authorities.
This problem could have been solved if the public representatives would raised this matter with the government in time otherwise govt keep silent from many years.
Although the Cabinet Sub-Committee (CSC) headed by the then Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand had recommended creation of 3000 new Patwar Halqas based on Panchayat constituencies which could have solved this problem in many new Tehsils but the government ingnored this recommendation.
