Jammu, April 28- Today Secretary Higher Education, Sh. Talat Pravez Rohella, interacted with Faculty and officers of the University of Jammu in a meeting under the Chairmanship of Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu. Prof Meena Sharma, Chief Coordinator Campuses gave a brief overview off site Campuses through power point presentation. Secretary advised the Rectors/Directors of various campuses to work in coordination with various Govt Departments like Social welfare, Child development, Disaster Management etc. Secretary Higher Education Department, J&K Government emphasized that academic excellence leading to essential skills and critical knowledge necessary for employability should be encouraged and given preference. He impressed upon various strategies to improve the quality of education in off site campuses by introducing the concept of community college, Industry Four, ERP, Digital Marketing etc. He further stressed upon holistic development of the students wherein their creative, academic and extracurricular efficiencies and talents are exposed and proper opportunities are provided to them. He asked university to do handholding of various colleges in implementing the various initiatives taken by state Higher Education Department. Sh. Rohella also proposed to setup Institute of Science and Technology at Poonch Campus under RUSA. Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu informed the Secretary Hr. Education regarding various achievements and initiatives of the University to improve quality of education by imparting online lectures, MOOC, SWAYAM and faculty improvement courses. Prof Dhar, also informed the secretary about inability of University to start new programmes due to paucity of space. Secretary Higher Education assured the Vice Chancellor that he will take up the issues with various concerned Departments of state Govt. for their early redressal. Secretary gave nod for resumption of works on languishing projects which were approved by the 6th High power committee of JKIDFC held on 25-02-2019. Among others who were present in the meeting includes Rector/Directors of various off site campuses, Dean Research Studies, Director, College Development Council, Coordinator RUSA JU,Principal, GDC Ramban, Deputy Secretary, Higher Education, Financial Advisor, Hr.Education, Spl. Secy to Vice Chancellor, Joint Registrar (Finance),Coordinator Campuses, PRO to Vice Chancellor, AR ( Dev/RUSA) and Campuses Development Officer.
