Medical shops at SMGS Hospital pay nominal rent for last 75 yrs | | | Early Times Report jammu, May 5: It seems the administration of the Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital Jammu is not bothered about the huge losses to the hospital's exchequers as no rent has been fixed for two medical shops which were rented out to medical fair price shops of Super Bazar (cooperative) for past more than 75 years. Pertinently, the matter of assessment of the rent of both shops was taken with Deputy Commissioner (Chairman District Level Committee of Rent Assessment of Shops Jammu) but the proposal of fixing the rent is gathering dust in the DC office for more than 5 years. Sources told Early Times that the matter was brought to concerned authorities notice by highlighting the issue through dailies but no efforts were made to take suitable action so that funds would be generated and the same will utilize for the betterment of the hospital. Moreover, sources added that currently the administration of SMGS hospital has been charging only Rs. 3000 as rent from both shops of cooperative, which had established since 1940 in the premises of SMGS hospital Jammu but since then no rent was being charged from the shops. For the last four to five years, nominal charge of Rs 1500 each is being taken.A a letter vide number MS/Fair Price Shops/06/6625-29 dated 16-02-2011, had sent to Deputy Commissioner Jammu to pursue the case but all in vain. "Since 2011, number of DCs of Jammu as well administration were transferred and repeatedly letters and reminders were sent to DC Jammu but neither assessment committee was made nor rent was fixed due to which huge loss to the hospital's exchequers, "Sources claimed. Medical Superintendent of SMGS Hospital Jammu was not available for comments. |
