BJP protests in Kashmir becomes shocker for Raj Bhawan | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 8: The protests by the senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janta Party in Kashmir on May 7 against the killing of their colleague, Gul Muhammad Mir, whose security was "recently withdrawn" in Kashmir, has shocked the Raj Bhawan about the "sense of insecurity prevailing among the people." Sources said the Raj Bhawan has taken note of the protests, where senior leaders of the ruling party in New Delhi, chanted slogans against the officials in civil and police administration in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Sources said the Raj Bhawan was expecting it to be symbolic protests but that the way the protesting leaders openly chanted slogans against official machinery has put the government in shock. "The protests have not come from any opposition party but from the party which is actually ruling the country. And their resentment against the state of civil and police administration, is actually sort of dismay of the central government," said a senior official on the condition of anonymity. Sources said the BJP leaders had sent the video clippings of their protests held near Lal Chowk here to leadership in New Delhi who in turn has shared it with the Raj Bhawan. After holding protests in the city center, the BJP leaders who otherwise have security, as a mark of protest had shun their security cover and travelled by an auto-rickshaw. Even though their PSOs wanted to escort them they were pushed away by the protesting politicians. Sources said there was even as security lapse during protests and some quarters have taken note of that. The BJP leaders have been protesting the withdrawal of security of the politicians and political workers in Kashmir irrespective of their political ideologies. The BJP has maintained that it was not seeking security for its own workers alone but for all such people who have a threat to their lives. Sources said the Raj Bhawan was likely to call a high level meeting the wake of the protests. Despite repeated attempts the concerned couldn't be contacted for comments. |
