DDC directs to provide shelter, meal to stranded passengers at Digdol | | | Early Times Report Ramban, May 10: District Development Commissioner Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat inspected the road clearance operation at Digdol area and ensured that all stranded passengers should be provided meals besides night shelter at designated places. DDC informed that officers of police and civil administration supervised road clearance and other works besides requesting commuters to contact traffic control rooms before starting their journey on the highway. Pertinent to mention here that a landslide had blocked the 270-km highway, the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with rest of the country at Digdol in Ramban district after that administration had started immediate road clearance operation. He directed the executing agencies to deploy adequate men and machinery to remove landslides instantly from national highway to restore traffic movement besides avoiding traffic jamming and traffic breakdown to ensure traffic worthy road 24X7. DDC directed the construction companies besides local administration of Banihal and Ramsoo to ensure arrangements, eatables, sanitation, drinking water etc. in all places besides other necessary facilities for stranded passengers. |
