BJP faction opposing early assembly polls in J&K | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 10: Uncertainty prevails over Assembly elections in J&K as BJP leaders are giving "confusing and conflicting" statements on the timing of the state polls. A group within BJP is working round the clock to get the assembly elections further delayed because this faction is accomplishing its personal agenda through influence in the administration. Credible sources said that this faction was trying to influence the high command that assembly elections should be held next year. "Timing of the assembly election is depend upon result of Parliamentary elections but a faction within BJP has already convinced central leadership to get the assembly election delayed till March 2020", sources said. Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had already charged the Centre delaying the Assembly elections in J&K which is under President's rule. Interestingly majority of the former MLAs and Ministers were trying for early assembly elections in the State but those who are opposing elections this year have never contested elections in their life. Through the administration, this faction is trying to get some personal benefits which they will not get during popular government that's why they are opposing elections. |
