Tourism Deptt organizes awareness programme on environment conservation | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 5: In connection with the World Environment Day, the Tourism Department today organized an awareness programme at Mansar on the theme "Zero Pollution Emission". On the occasion, the participants highlighted the importance of environment in our day to day life and emphasized to encourage environment friendly practices. They advocated for strong measures to promote the healthy environment with active participation of all sections of the society, especially the educational institutions, who can be the best ambassadors to spread the message of saving the environment and natural resources which are must for healthy life. On the occasion, a Lake walk was organized, which was flagged off by Director Tourism, Jammu ,O P Bhagat in the presence of Director State Forest Research Institute, O P Sharma Vidyarthi. During the Lake walk, Vidyarthi conducted a Tree talk and made participants aware about the significance of environment and need for protection of Wetlands. The participants were also provided battery car rides by JK Wild Life Protection Department. The participants along with the tourists enjoyed a scintillating cultural programme presented by Subash Brahmanu and Party. The local artists enthralled the audience with their folk songs and dances. A community lunch was also organized where the Dogra cuisine was served on leaf cups and plates (Doona & Pattals) with zero carbon footprints. Sarpanches and Panches of Mansar, Surinsar and Chani Panchayats also participated in the event. No plastic was used during the whole event and the plastic banners were replaced by wooden hoardings provided by the State Pollution Control Board. |
