KVK Jammu observes World Environment Day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 5: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Jammu working under the administrative control of Sher-e Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu observed World Environment Day. The environment day was celebrated at KVK Jammu in which the students of final year BSc Agriculture who were undergoing RAWE training at KVK Jammu, Scientific and non-scientific staff of KVK participated actively. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rakesh Sharma I/c Sr. Scientist and Head KVK Jammu, put forth the importance of celebrating the Environment Day and stressed that measure for control of air pollution should be adopted by each participant. Dr Punit Choudhary, Sr Scientist Agroforestry, KVK Jammu briefed the participants that World Environment Day is the most important day of the year for promoting awareness and action to protect the environment. He elaborated that World Environment day 2019 is being celebrated with the theme of "Air Pollution". On the occasion students of BSc final Year Agriculture also prepared potting mixture based on organic formulation that later on will be used on for raising pollution tolerant saplings of Ficusreligiosa (Pipal), Ficusbengalansis (Bargad) etc. and also debated on the topic of reducing air pollution. |
