CSD celebrates world environment day with theme "Beat air pollution" | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 5: The Civil Society for Development (CSD) of Jammu and Kashmir today organized an awareness campaign on world environment day. The theme chosen this year was 'beat air pollution' as this topic is of mass concern and invites us all to consider and act on to how we can change the manmade changes in nature to reduce the toxic and greenhouse gases in air which in turn cause global warming and climate change. There is no doubt today that air pollution is a global public health emergency. It threatens everyone from unborn babies to children walking to school, to women cooking over open fires, on the street and inside the house, the sources of air pollution can be very different, yet their effects are equally deadly. The campaign was led by president CSD of Jammu and Kashmir, Puneet Singh Jamwal. While talking to passersby, he said that it's duty of each and every citizen of nation to be aware of causes and effects of air pollution and must contribute something of their own to save the environment, as the air we breathe in is getting polluted day by day. The activists of the CSD J&K took the pledge that they will aware each and every person of the state till the last breath so to save the environment for our future generations. Puneet Singh Jamwal also requested Governor to personally look into the matter as there is dire need of setting mobile pollution checking units for vehicles and also requested him to install air quality control panels at important installations so that people should be made aware about environment and they should actually know what they are breathing in. |
