Early Times Report

Doda, June 5: President Thathri Development Front, District Doda, Kuldeep Kumar Rao wondered that the hollow slogans of the previous NC-Congress coalition government & PDP- BJP coalition government for so called equitable development for all three regions, was simply a drama and in fact they all are exposed over such a significant injustice with Jammu Division.
Rao said that total voters of assembly segments of Karnah 27672,Guraz 15676, Haba Kadal 50780, Khanyar 52,159 is hardly equivalent to one Gandhi Nagar Constituency of Jammu having 1.50 lakh voters & of Jammu West with 1,42000 voters. Rao said that the biggest assembly constituency in Jammu Province is of 1,50,000 voters & the smallest assembly constituency is of 70,000 voters where as in Kashmir Province the biggest assembly constituency is of 70,000 voters and the smallest assembly constituency is 30,000 voters , which is an open disparity with Jammu Division. Can People of Jammu Province get justice in this open disparity? Can equitable development possible in this inequality? They have simply exploited the sentiments of people in the garb of article 370 to enhance their political interests. Why no de-limitation of Assembly & Lok Sabha seats in the light of article 370, which allows them to do so? Rao, has expressed that here in the State, Article 47-Sub-section-4 of Jammu & Kashmir People's Representation Act 1957,says that Governor is the authority to constitute Delimitation Commission after every census.
But the constitutional provisions are not being invoked possibly in view of the central amendment banning increase or decrease in the number of existing Assembly or Parliamentary constituencies.
