BKP celebrates World Environment Day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 5: Bhartiya Kissan Parivar, NGO today celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm here on Wednesday. The programme was organised by Dogra leader and Director Bhartiya Kissan Parivar, Tarun Uppal in which senior officials of BSF and spiritual leader Sahil ji Maharaj were graced the occasion. World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5 across the globe to create awareness for environment and importance of protecting the planet Earth. Uppal laid stress for active participation in environment conservation and encouraged the participants to promote green culture among the society. "World Environment Day is the 'people's day' for doing something to take care of the Earth. That 'something' can be local, national or global. It can be a solo action or involve a crowd. Everyone is free to choose," Uppal added. Uppal emphasized upon the importance of trees and while describing their role in maintaining environmental balance. He appealed to all people to plant more and more tree for the protection of environment. Later, a plantation drive was launched in which Tarun Uppal along with Bal Sant Sahil ji Maharaj, IG BSF N.S Jamwal and DIG BSF Jammu, O.P Upadhya planted saplings to promote green gold among the people of Jammu city. During the programme, saplings were along distributed among participants with an appeal to plant more trees and save environment. Among others who were present on the occasion included Commandant Medical BSF, S.K Kumar; AD Medical, Rajveer Sharma and Rajeev Charak. |
