Baramulla, June 5: In what can be seen as a proof of how Indian security forces work towards peace in the Valley and upholding Muslim traditions such as Eid, a photograph emerged from the state of Jammu and Kashmir that showed an old woman being shielded from stone pelters by a policeman. The policeman on duty shielded the old lady from stones that were hurled at people and could have possibly hit her during clashes that broke out after Eid prayers in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla on Wednesday. The image was proof of forces upholding the tradition of Eid while Islamist elements try to desecrate it by engaging in violence at a time the Indian security establishment in the Valley is seen detrimental to the peace-keeping process in Jammu and Kashmir. In the two images that have been played out in the video, on one side there are stone pelters and the woman visibly calling out to the policemen for help while what appears to be stone pelters behind her. The policeman later shielded her on the bridge and escorted her to safety. On the other hand, images of violent mob protesting on the streets of Baramulla and hurling stones at civilians. From a distance, the mob appears to be flashing the Islamic State flags. |
