NC in touch with PDP leader | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 16: The National Conference is in touch with a leader from the Peoples Democratic Party and are trying to lure the latter to join the NC. Sources said the NC leaders have approached a leader from the PDP who had recently unsuccessfully contested Parliament elections. Sources said the said leader had been in touch with the NC before joining PDP and is understood to have revived the relations. Sources said some of the close aides of the Abudllah family are in direct contact with the said leader and that a meeting between him and the Abdullahs of the NC is scheduled to held in the coming days in Srinagar. As already reported by Early Times the PDP apprehends to face jolt in the party cadres from north Kashmir where some of its members are not in good relations with the party high command since the day the party lost all the three Parliament seats from Kashmir valley. The PDP was likely to hold a meeting to decide future course of action this Sunday but the same has been postponed as some of the main faces from north Kashmir were unlikely to attend the same. Sources said the PDP leadership is likely to opt for individual meetings with the leaders from north Kashmir one by one in bid to persuade them to be with the party and to redress their grievances if any. Sources said one MLC from PDP had been asked to talk to the said leader and persuade him not to leave the party. Sources said the NC eyes to grab PDP's popular faces from north Kashmir in a bid to expand its voter base in the area. "If they get PDP votes from north Kashmir, they will have dominance," said a political expert in Kashmir. It is pertinent to mention that PDP leader Basharat Bukhari has already left the party and joined the NC. Despite repeated attempts the said leader in question couldn't be contacted for comments. |
