Dearth of engineering staff in JMC hampers development | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 17: The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) is facing dearth of staff which has affected the execution of development works to a great extent in the City of Temples.According to a source, the lack of technical staff has given a setback to development plan in Jammu. According to him, the present work load in the JMC ineeds over a dozen of JEs, three to four AEEs and two Cents to look after the civil works in the Corporation when only three to four JEs are working in the Civic body. The number of AEs and AEEs is also less while the post of one Xen is also vacant. The source said the authorities neither advertise the posts for fresh recruitment not approach the Government to get the engineering staff from other departments having surplus engineers. He said due to dearth of staff the execution work has suffered to a great extent. The work load on JMC had also increased after extending it's jurisdiction to outskirts of city and bringing more wards under it. Sources said the execution of development works had totally suffered in JMC and authorities are taking no steps in this regard. Sources said even the works under CDF given by MLCs, ex MLAs in past have not been tendered till date. He said small works being done under CDF are of emergent nature and the JMC instead of executing such works on immediate basis are inviting lengthy procedure of tendering which takes a lot of time and works suffer on account of the same. |
