Dilapidated 'Raja Ki Haveli' craves for official attention | | | Ashwani Sharma Early Times Report
Udhampur, July 9: 300-year-old historic 'Raja Ki Haveli' at popular Mansar Lake is in dilapidated condition exposing the tall claims of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and its local offices. Shri Newas, an elder from the locality informed that haveli was constructed during Maharaja Partap Singh's times and Ram Kumar looked after it. "But after his death, the old building was neglected. "Inside the Haveli people have spread litter and stray animal rest there. The historic haveli is also used as a garbage or scrap dump. "Even the walls of this building have developed cracks and most part of it has lost its roof. "The building is a big risk because it can fall anytime and may consume innocent lives." He also said tourists visit the haveli after paying obeisance at historic Baba Mansar Temple at famous lake express shock over neglect of the historic structure. Shiv Kumar, a local said that the haveli should immediately be taken over by ASI for its proper repair and maintenance and caretaking. |
