Torrential rains create havoc in Kuntwara area, crops destroyed | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, July 17: The torrential rains in upper reaches of Kishtwar District on Monday Evening and Tuesday had created havoc in many upper reaches of Kishtwar District including Kuntwara area where standing crops, vegetables and fruits suffered massive demages. As per the details available with Early Times, the Sarpanch Hillour Arif Hussain submitted a detail representation to Tehsildar Drabshalla urging him to depute a team of officals to access the demages. Speaking to Early Times, Sarpanch Arif Hussain said that the continuous rainfall in four days has cause massive demages in the area. He said that the farmers community in the area had suffered heavy losses as majority of the standing crops including maize got totally damaged added that the poor population of the Kuntwara area are totally dependent on agriculture and these rains has swept away the crops beside the water also enters into the homes of the people due to which many people suffered damages to moveable and immoveable properties. He said that the Pakka paths and Kaccha paths in the area also suffered damages added that the area is without road connectivity as a result of which it is very difficult for the people to reach District or Tehsil Headquarter for submitting the applications for assessment of damages. He said that many farmers also avail Kishan credit loans and required Compansation for the demaged crops. He urged upon DC Kishtwar to depute a team of officals for making on spot assessment of demages. |
