Srinagar, July 17: As per the officials, the Himalayan cave shrine has witnessed more than two lakh pilgrims undertaking the Amarnath Yatra in the past 16 days which is the highest during the fortnight in the last four years and has broken the records. Since the beginning of the pilgrimage on July 1, a total of 2,05,083 pilgrims have paid obeisance to the ice stalagmite structure with 4,584 devotees who left Jammu for the valley on Wednesday, said the officials. Also, on Wednesday, 2,612 pilgrims left for Pahalgam base camp while 1,972 yatris left for Baltal. An Amarnath Yatra official said, "This is the highest number of pilgrims to visit the cave shrine during the first fortnight in the last four years." |
