Court rejects bail of bovine smuggler | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 20: The Chief Judicial Magistrate Reasi, Amarjeet Singh Langeh, on Saturday rejected the bail application of an alleged bovine smuggler Abdul Majid, of Miran Sahab, Jammu. According to the police, on 12.07.2019 when a truck bearing registration No. JK02AT-7334 was signalled to stop by patrol party of police post Talwara, Camp Tali Morh, it did not stop as a result of which it was chased and petitioner was arrested while conductor of the truck in question fled in the wee hours at 03:40. Upon checking of the truck, 9 bovine animals tied in a cruel manner were found inside truck out of which one bull was found dead. FIR No. 140/2019 for offences under sections 188, 429 of RPC and 3 P. C. Act was registered and investigation started. The CJM after hearing both the sides observed that the antecedents of petitioner that have emerged during investigation assume significance when juxtaposed with the modus-operandi employed by him in carrying out alleged criminal activities. "Many co-accused and constituents of the group as alleged by petitioner which indulges in carrying out organized crime are still at large. Further, on facts it should not come as surprise if petitioner does not turn up to face process of law once concession of bail is extended to him at a stage when investigation is under way," the court observed while rejecting the bail application. |
