| Rape accused escaped from Police custody during treatment | | |

JAMMU, July 20: A man arrested in rape case escaped from Police custody when he was brought to the Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh Hospital for medical treatment.
Rape accused Sajjad Ahmed, son of Abdul Qaum, resident of Drass village was involved in a case FIR no 21/2007 under section 376 RPC at Police Station Mahore and he was in judicial custody. On the requested of Superintendent of Jail the accused was shifted to the hospital. On Saturday afternoon, was taken for some medical treatment to Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh hospital under Police escort where he managed to give police the slip and search a was on to nab him. SSP Nisha Nathyal was not available for comments. |
