JAMMU, July 20: Jammu Municipal Corporation in collaboration with Urban Forestry, Jammu, State Forest Research Institute, Jammu, School Education Department and various Social and Non-Government Organizations such as Arogya Bharti, Disha Foundation & Nehru Yuva Kendra, NSS started a "Mega Plantation Drive" as a part of Govt. of India's "Jal Shakti Abhiyan" and as an initiative to preserve environmental resources. Chander Mohan Gupta, Dy. Mayor , Advocate Purnima Sharma, Chairperson, Jeet Angral, Councillors Amit Gupta, Narotam Sharma & Jagdish Kumar Sharma and Commissioner, JMC Pankaj Magotra inaugurated the Plantation drive at B.C. road, Jammu by planting various medicinal, flowering and ornamental plants in presence of Joint Commissioner (A), JMC, Pardeep Singh, Secretary , JMC, Sunaina Sharma, Asstt. Commissioner (R), JMC, Prem Singh, Joint Commissioner (W), Jaspal Singh and other senior officers and officials of Jammu Municipal Corporation. After inaugurating the plantation drive, Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillors of ward no. 2&3, Commissioner, JMC and other team members planted the trees at Panjthirthi area, Mubarakh Mandi, JMC Park, Mubarakh Mandi Complex, Peer Kho Mandir Garden Complex, Jhulaka Mohallah and Higher secondary School, Jhukala Mohallah, Jammu. Students, local residents and volunteers of various organizations evinced keen interest and actively participated in the drive. Jammu Municipal Corporation appeals to all the citizens of Jammu City both young and old students and various Social and Non- Government Organizations to come forward and actively participate in the Mega Plantation drive to make the drive a great success. |
