Govt fails to protect minority shrines, temple property in Valley: KPs | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 25: The encroachment of land and property of ancient Shiv temple at Rainawari in Capital city of Srinagar is snowballing into a big controversy with Kashmiri Pandits warning a nationwide agitation over the issue. To restore the land of the temple, the Rainawari Committee has taken up the issue with State Governor, Satya Pal Malik demanding his immediate intervention in the matter. The KPs putting up in various parts of country have taken serious exception to encroachment of temple and shrine property in the Valley. The KP organisations including Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust, spearheading a movement for constitution of Board for protection of Hindu shrines and temples in Valley, Kashmiri Pandit Conference, All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference, Panun Kashmir and Kashmir Samiti Delhi has termed the encroachment of temples and shrines land in Valley a part of big conspiracy to erase the leftover symbols of Hindu culture and civilization in Valley by radical forces at the behest of Pakistan. They also accused the State Government of it's total failure in protecting the Hindu shrines in Valley during three decades of terrorism. They said after hounding out minority Hindus from Valley on gun point the forces trying to covert Kashmir a theocratic State are hell bent to erase the remenants of composite culture from the Valley. The KP bodies demand immediate constitution of Board on pattern of Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee and Auqaf Board to protect the shrines and temples in Valley. They further warned an agitation in case Government fails to concede the demand. |
