Government starts working on investment summit for J&K | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 6: With the Modi Government having brilliantly managed to abrogate Article 370 and 35-A to make Jammu and Kashmir a Union Territory, New Delhi has started preparedness for the first of its kind 'Mega Investment Summit' in the state. Sources said that Government will be hosting "Mega Investment Summit" in the month of October to seek investment from major business players into State of Jammu and Kashmir. Sources said that government is in touch with some of the leading business houses in the country and even in international ones to persuade them to open their venture in the state. Sources said that the investment would be largely in sector of industries and tourism both in Jammu and Kashmir regions. Sources said that apart from the business players from outside, the government is in touch with the business forums in Jammu and Kashmir to make the event a big success. Sources said that State Government has started discussion about the business summit around two months ago with the corporate forums in the State. Sources said that it was reliably learnt that apart from opening international business centres and malls in Jammu and Kashmir regions, there would be huge investment in region like Doda. Sources said that international tourism package for Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage was also on the cards, "Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage has been main source of tourism and business in Jammu and the central Government looks ahead to sell pilgrimage packages before the international community so that more and more people from across the world drop in, in the city of temple, "said a senior official on the condition of anonymity. It was reliably learnt that Jammu city would be brought on the map of international tourism destinations as a major attraction. When contacted a senior official confirmed that the business summit was on the cards but declined to share details above the same citing "security reasons". "We will share the detail at appropriate time," he said. |
