Stung by Modi's masterstroke Congress resorts to misinformation: Brig Gupta | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 8: While the entire nation is rejoicing over the historic decision of the Modi government to end the special status of J&K and reorganise it into two union territories (UTs), Congress is a divided house because the Nehru loyalists are not ready to accept that both article 370 and 35A were blunders committed by Nehru which were responsible for the ongoing turmoil in Kashmir. The local Congress leadership under the influence of Ghulam Nabi Azad has resorted to a misinformation campaign to mislead the people because its leadership has been the beneficiary of the blatant misuse of the two impugned articles stated Brig Anil Gupta, State Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party. By comparing the reorganised state to a municipality Congress leadership is only displaying its ignorance of the different governance models in the country. Keeping in view, the prevailing security environment and the vested interest of the Kashmir based political parties in continuation of Pak sponsored proxy war, it was the best possible option to ensure return to normalcy and sustaining lasting peace said Brig Gupta. He further added that the Home Minister has already stated on the floor of the Parliament that as and when the peace is fully restored statehood will be re-granted. "Tough situations need difficult decisions in national interest and Modi has proved time and again that he has the political courage and intellectual vision to take such decisions. Congress during its tenures believed in appeasement rather than catching the bull by horn. That is why they are not able to digest this bold and visionary decision of Modi government," asserted Brig Gupta. Congress stalwart and a member of the ex-royal family Dr Karan Singh has stated on numerous occasions that the composition of J&K state was not natural due to the three regions being geographically, demographically and culturally totally distinct from each other. |
