Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 26: Street lighting is one of the basic civic necessities in any city but there are several areas in Jammu which are either deprived of the street lights or bearing the brunt of defunct lighting system. Sanjay Nagar, Sector 1, is one such locality where the provision of street lighting very much exists but most of the lights are non-functional for quite some time. A large number of poles fitted with street lights are mocking the residents of the area as the lighting system is out of order for the last few months. "After the Jammu Municipal Corporation started to provide LED lights, a ray of hope was there that new lights would work efficiently but sorry to say that most of them went out of order within few days of the installation," said inhabitants of the area. Locals said their problems are not being addressed even though they had approached several officials in the Power Development Department. "They are just passing the buck and making us run from pillar to post. We urge higher authorities of the PDD to look into the issue and ensure that street lights are restored immediately," on condition of anonymity, a local said. |
