Narrating his ordeal, Harvinder Singh (45) resident of Nanak Nagar Sec-9 told Early Times that he was suffering from pile disease and was prescribed by doctors to undergo surgery for its cure.
"Being unable to bear expenses for pile operation, I applied to Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board under Labour Department for financial assistance and department agreed to reimburse the expenses and after that I got admitted in private nursing home in 2018," said Harvinder Singh.
He further informed that after getting admitted in the nursing home, a number of blood and radiology diagnostic tests were conducted and medicines were prescribed before operation which cost around Rs 7500 and the bills for the same were issued.
"The surgery was conducted on December 6, 2018 which cost Rs 18,000 and other expenses were of Rs 3600 but bills for these were not issued due to which I couldn't apply for their reimbursement for the same. I had to borrow money from relatives and friends for the treatment but couldn't return the money till date," said dejected mason.
"Due to non-cooperation by the Nursing Home management, I could not get reimburse the expenses done on my operation. I put forth my economical condition before them but nothing has happened till date. Being registered under Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, I am eligible to claim expenses but I can't do anything without bills," he said. He further said that it has been more than nine months that he has been running from pillar to post to get surgery bills.
