| Vehicle with banned timber seized, one arrested | | |

JAMMU, Sep 3: District Police Samba has arrested one person along with a vehicle laden with banned timber in the jurisdiction of P/S Ghagwal at NHW Tapyal, Ghagwal.
A Police Party of P/S Ghagwal headed by SHO P/S Ghagwal, Insp Sudhir Sadotra, under the supervision of DySP Hqrs. Samba, Tilak Raj Bhardwaj while performing vehicle checking duty at Naka NHW Tapyal intercepted a truck bearing Regd No JK02AH-0943 which was coming from Kathua heading towards Samba.
During checking of the said vehicle, a total of 44 quintals banned timber (Khair-Wood) was found laden in the vehicle. The accused driver of the vehicle identified as Surjeet Singh S/o Omkar Singh R/O Badoli, Dinga-Amb, Kathua was arrested and the said vehicle along with timber was also seized on the spot. After conducting all the legal formalities, Samba Police handed over the accused driver alongwith seized truck laden with timber to the concerned forest department for further proceeding into the investigation. |
