ACB lays trap, Chowki Officer caught red handed taking bribe of Rs 1 lakh | Court grants four days police remand of SI | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sep 7: A Chowki Officer, posted in Rajouri district, caught red handed while he was taking bribe from a complainant for helping his relative in the investigation of NDPS case. Acting on the complaint of one Ajay Pal Singh son of Karnail Singh resident of Sant Market, Jammu, the Police Station, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), Rajouri registered case FIR No. 02/2019 under Section 5(1) (d) read with Section 5(2) J&K P.C.Act Svt.2006 and section 4-A of J&K P.C (amendment) Act, 2014. In his complaint, the complainant stated that Sub Inspector Suresh Sharma, Incharge Police Post Rajouri City, Rajouri Police Station demanded Rs 3 lakh from him for helping Sharanjeet Singh son of Kartar Singh resident of Sant Market, Jewel Chowk, Jammu, who was arrested in NDPS case registered against him at the Rajouri Police Station. As per details, the accused agreed to accept bribe of Rs 1 lakh as advance and rest of the amount was agreed to be paid after bail of Sharanjeet Singh. He demanded bribe amount repeatedly from the complainant. The complainant has further stated that Sharanjeet Singh is maternal uncle of the complainant. It is to mention that Sharanjeet Singh was earlier arrested by Police Station Rajouri on the ground of recovery of narcotic drug for which investigation of the case was going on. Sharanjeet Singh was kept in custody of Police Post City Rajouri Police Station. Subsequently, ACB teams conducted search at the house of accused Sub Inspector situated at Saran Ghou-Manhasan in connection with investigation of case FIR No 02/2019 under section 5(1) (d) read with Section 5(2) J&K P.C.Act Svt.2006 and section 4-A of J&K P.C (amendment) Act, 2014. Further investigation of the case was going on. Meanwhile, Special Judge Anticorruption Court YP Bourney granted four days police remand of Suresh Kumar SI Rajouri who was caught red-handed by the ACB while accepting graft. ACB today produced Sub Inspector before Court seeking police remand. |
