Mentally Retarded Girls Home Jammu suffers: Citizens' Forum | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 5: Citizens' Forum has urged the Governor and the Chief Secretary to look in to the needs of Mentally Retarded Girls Home in Jammu. These unfortunate Girls were looked after by NGO's like Inner-wheel and Rotary Club ladies with Government help and their own contributions, but with the passage of time and unbearable costs of living and some other time bound problems from government departments, the living conditions of the girls are deteriorating for the last many years. R K Chadha the president of the Citizen's forum said the girls not only need food and lodging, but proper medical care and daily personal hygiene and up keep. This is to be taken care of only by female attendants, cook, safai karmchari and other help. Some years back one of the girl was raped by someone from the Home and forum had taken up the matter strongly with the then government but position ultimately is the same. Chadha further said that ladies of highly decent families of Jammu, members of Inner-wheel and Rotary club have again come forward to take care of these children but are helpless without proper arrangements to do this job of humanity. These ladies along with top gentlemen retired officers (Coffee Club) had tried to collect some funds for the upkeep of these children but found it not possible to maintain the Home. |
