Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 5: A Station House Officer (SHO) posted in Jammu Headquarter area has facilitated illegal occupation of a shop for a party from whom the officer had taken hefty amount in order to execute the act.
Sources informed Early Times that the SHO took Rs 1 lakh to aid and abet illegal occupation of the shop which was a bone of contention among two claimants of the property.
"The SHO extended all possible help to the illegal occupants. Even the matter was brought to the police station by the other party but the officer did not hesitate to let off the illegal occupiers of the shop as he had already struck a deal with them," said sources.
Sources said that the disputed shop located in the jurisdictional area of the SHO was worth lakhs of rupees. There was an argument over its ownership among the two relatives. One of them approached the SHO and managed to strike a deal with him.
"Following the assurance of the SHO, the party which hobnobbed with him, broke open the locks of the shop same night and barged into it. They packed all the valuables lying inside the shop which belonged to the other party and loaded it in a load carrier," said sources.
"However, when the illegal occupiers were loading the valuables on to the load carrier, a patrolling party of police reached the spot. The cops enquired from them that why they are loading the stuff from the shop at such odd hour. After getting no satisfactory reply from them, the team brought them to the police station and informed the SHO," added sources.
Sources further said that after reaching the police station, the SHO was dumbfounded to see the persons with whom he had brokered a deal in lieu of aiding occupation of the disputed shop.
"The SHO told his staff that the persons are the owner of the shop from where they were apprehended. Next day, the other claimants of the shop also reached the police station to lodge a complaint but the SHO did not allow them to enter the premises," said sources.
Sources said that the SHO played smartly in the dispute of two relatives adding that he availed the opportunity with open arms and helped one of the claimants to enable occupy the shop with his open help.
