JKNPP to contest all BDC seats in Jammu & Kashmir
10/5/2019 10:10:36 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 5: JKNPP held an emergency meeting of its Working Committee at Press Club Jammu to discuss the current situation in light of the Abrogation of Article 370 & removal of 35 A on 05Aug2019 & sudden declaration of the BDC polls on Party Basis.
Opening the discussions Prof Bhim Singh, Patron JKNPP, welcomed the Abrogation & Removal of Article 370 & 35A respectively but strongly condemned the Reorganisation of the J&K State into TWO Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh. He said that this J&K State was the biggest State of Undivided India & the credit for its establishment goes to the Dogra King Maharaja Gulab Singh. He also informed the gathering that Maharaja Gulab Singh is also credited with giving the area Kashmir Valley its independence from the Britishers & joining the regions of Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh into a cohesive unit of Jammu & Kashmir State.
He said that JKNPP was all for the reorganisation of this state into a Confederation of Jammu & Kashmir States which would be Two separate entities with their separate Legislatures but under one common umbrella with Ladakh becoming a UT as per the demand of the people residing there. The current form of Reorganisation of J&K State into Two Union Territories is totally un-acceptable by JKNPP & we demand that status of a State be restored immediately.
He also expressed his surprise as to how could the BDC elections be conducted when there are more than 12000 Panchayat's in Kashmir Valley which do not have elected members. He also condemned the holding of these BDC elections at this juncture when after a few days the State is going to become a UT & the 73 Amendment of Panchayat Raj would be applicable in the UT. Prof Bhim Singh also enlightened the audience that after removal of Article 35A, the J&K Public Safety Act ceases to be in Force in the state.
Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman JKNPP & former Minister, whilst speaking also condemned this downgrading of the J&K State into Union Territories and also the holding of the BDC Elections on Party Basis. He expressed his strong condemnation of this conduct of elections whilst keeping all the political leaders in the state, except for the BJP leaders; under detention of House Arrest or PSA. He remarked that this is the murder of democracy as no dissent nor criticising of the GOI Policies is allowed. He also cautioned the Govt. of the day that the sons of soil are being deprived of their lands by changing the entries in revenue records from the actual owners to that of outsiders & thus a change in the demographic character of Jammu region is being brought about. He drew the attention of the Govt that in Ram Nagar area alone upto 12000 Kanals of Land entries have been changed in this manner. This is a very sinister move & the Govt of the day should immediately order a probe in these nefarious activities of the revenue department. He vowed that JKNPP shall fight against these injustices being piled upon the Jammuites. He also condemned the current manner of recruitment being carried out by the Govt in which the entire focus is on giving employment to the youth of Kashmir Valley only & leaving the youth og Jammu Province high & dry.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Sh. Yashpaul Kundal, President Young Panthers & Former Minister, Anita Thakur Gen Secy, Capt. Anil Gour, Sham Gorkha & Gagan Partap Singh State Secretaries, Choudhary Surinder Chouhan, Musthaq Ahmed District Presidents & others.
