Vikram Nagar residents express resentment over dilapidated condition of lane | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 5: Anger is brewing among the residents of Vikram Nagar Gadigarh of Gandhi Nagar constituency over the poor drainage system and dilapidated lane while the authority is unmoved. Locals informed Early Times that nearly 10 year ago the department of Rural Development had constructed and blacktopped our lane which has been turned dilapidated. Due to not availability of proper drainage system the potholes have been developed on the lane, resulting, the commuters are facing tough time especially elderly persons and school going children. "However, now our area has come under the limit of Municipal Corporation but nobody has been come forward to repair and blacktopped the lane which has connected nearly 60-70 houses", said Nanak Singh. Manjeet Singh (50) said that few months back, the locals even informed to Kavinder Gupta, the former MLA of Gandhi Nagar constituency as well as officials of Municipal Corporation Jammu and they assured us that in coming days, the blacktopping of the lanes would be started soon but nothing has been happed so far. "After the coalition government of BJP-PDP came to power we were hopeful that Gadigarh area would be developed. But nothing has been done to upgrade lanes and drainage infrastructure, resulting we were still living pathetic condition", said Harpreet Singh. Now, the inhabitants of Vikram Nagar are up in arms against the officials of department concerned for its failure to repair the dilapidated lane stretches leading to Gadigarh locality and locals accused the Municipal Corporation's officials for miss-utilization of funds meant for the repairs. |
