Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 15: Former Minister and General Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today castigated the decision of installing toll plaza. Harshly criticising the Central government, especially BJP for this move, Mr Sawhney stated that the people of Jammu will suffer because of it. In 2014, the same BJP had criticised the installation of a toll plaza at Saror, because of which it had been revoked. And now, the same government is changing its earlier stand by doing the very same thing they had protested against. We strongly discourage this move, stated Sawhney. " Their words and actions just don't match". Firstly, installation of this toll plaza will lead to increase in traffic. Secondly, the plan is to enable three toll plazas within 120 kms, which is against the norms of National Highway Authority of India. The norm says that the minimum distance between two tolls should be 60 km at the least. " said Sawhney. "AIIMS Jammu is in the process of construction. This will enable all poor and needy people from far flung areas such as Doda, Rajouri Poonch, Pathankot, Kishtwar, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab to receive quality healthcare services in Jammu. But these tolls would put an extra burden on the shoulders of these people such delays due to traffic, which is completely unnecessary" stated Sawhney. |
