YAIKS demands 3 smart cities for rehabilitation of Kashmiri pandits
11/8/2019 9:59:06 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 8: An organisation of Kashmiri pandits on Friday demanded setting up of three smart cities in the Kashmir valley for return and rehabilitation of the community displaced due to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in 1990.
Youth all India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) also batted strongly for setting up a board for protection and restoration of temples and shrines in the valley on the pattern of the Gurdwara Prabandak Committee and Muslim Wakf Board of Jammu and Kashmir.
These demands were submitted by a delegation of YAIKS to Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai in New Delhi.
"The delegation demanded smart cities at south, central and northern districts of Kashmir valley for the honourable return of Kashmiri pandits back to their land of origin with the grant of minority status,".
The distress sale of migrant property may declare null and void to restore pre-migration possession, he said.
YAIKS called for starting a direct dialogue with the grassroot level leadership of the community before preparing the final blueprint for the comprehensive rehabilitation of displaced pandits back to the Kashmir Valley.
The memorandum, which was submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), further declared that the Government of India should make the displaced community politically empowered and reserve at least four assembly seats and two in parliament elections besides reservation in all local and block development bodies.
YAIKS also demanded job package for leftover candidates and rest of unemployed youth of the community besides 2 to 4 per cent reservation in central services and its educational Institutions and one time compensation for the over-aged displaced youth.
The delegation lauded the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the re-organisation of J-K and abrogation of provisions of Article 370 and 35-A in the history of Independent India.
