Early Times Report

Anantnag, Nov 11: Despite the passage of over four years, the central heating system (CHS) installed in Anantnag district Hospital (Now associate hospital of Anantnag Government Medical College) continues to remain dysfunctional.
The non-functional central heating system in Anantnag hospital also punctures the tall claims of health department and government with regard the facilities being provided to the patients.
The official cite the shortage of funds as the reason for the heating system not being made operational in the hospital.
In the new building block of associate hospital of Anantnag Government Medical College which was made operational four years ago, crores of rupees were spend on the installation of central heating system but is now gathering rust.
"The central heating system has not been put to use even once in last four years, even wasn't tested," they say.
Though the hospital authorities have installed wall heaters in wards to provide heating facilities to the patients but same is posing a serious threat to patient care, says staff in the hospital
"The central heating system that was installed by Jammu Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) four years ago wasn't even tested. Recently a team visited the hospital and funds number of issues with the system," officials told Early Times.
They said that hospital management needs extra money for the restoration of central heating system.
Principal Anantnag Government Medical College, Dr Showkat Geelani admitted that the central heating system installed in the hospital isn't functioning, however said that they have made alternative heating arrangements for the patients.
"Yes it is not functioning because it was installed almost four years ago but now we are going to make it functional as we have written to the concerned executing agency and sought a detailed report from them," he said.
